Virginia Spine Care, in coalition with LewisGale Medical Center, is proud to announce that our own James Leipzig, MD, FACS is the featured speaker and “physician’s champion” for the American Orthopaedic Association’s “Own the Bone” program.
Dr. Leipzig will provide an overview of the severe health implications of fragility fractures on Thursday morning, October 6 at LewisGale Medical Center’s Education Center Auditorium. He will discuss how the Own the Bone program is helping healthcare facilities implement secondary fracture prevention programs and the multi-faceted approach that LewisGale Medical Center will be implementing to ensure our patients receive the most comprehensive orthopedic care.
The American Orthopaedic Association’s Own the Bone program is a national post-fracture, systems-based, multidisciplinary fragility fracture prevention initiative. The program’s ultimate goal is to change physician and patient behavior to reduce incidence of future fractures and positively impact osteoporosis treatments.
To ensure that our osteoporotic fracture patients receive the most complete treatment and care they deserve, LewisGale Medical Center has implemented AOA’s Own the Bone Program. Own the Bone incorporates 10 prevention measures and provides the tools needed for healthcare facilities to establish a fracture liaison service and secondary fracture prevention program.
